The Plan

We wanted to do a proper game-centric Sonic comic series for a long time. No sprite recolours, no Archie, no Iblis Trigger, just the classic 16-bit era. (Sorry, Sonic CD.) It seemed like a fun idea to do a strip for every act, boss and special stage, so we made this!

Your Authors

You might know us from Bittersweet Candy Bowl, the high school dramedy comic that is our main gig. As longtime Sonic fans (indeed, we first met on a Sonic and Amy… “shipping” forum… in 2001… shut up) together we came up with concepts based on the strange, frustrating and wonderful little moments which make up the games. After gathering a collection of Copic markers, Veronica drew it all while Oliver did editing and tidyup. Perhaps you should follow us on Twitter!

History

While Veronica had been drawing Sonic comics for years, “Not Enough Rings” launched in 2011 and completed its run on January 4, 2014.

Are you doing any more Sonic comics?

No, but thanks for asking! We did make some strips based on the Sonic 3 “Competition” stages when we put Not Enough Rings into print in mid-2013, but they are not available for general sale.
